I had this past week off from work, my little head of lettuce, and it was wonderful! I spent the beginning of the week running errands, attending a few appointments, getting a pedicure and taking afternoon naps. It was quite awesome, and I didn't miss work one little bit. Daddy ended up coming home early on Wednesday and we had a very productive visit to Ikea, where we picked up most of the rest of the furniture items we needed for your room including a bookcase, a changing table, some wall shelves, a lamp, curtain rods, and we stumbled on a pillow case with blue and green stripes that was just meant to be in your room.
On Thursday, we loaded up the car and headed down to the Cape to catch the ferry to Martha's Vineyard for a long weekend. This was the first time we took our car on the ferry, and it actually worked out great. It gives me great hope for the future vacations we will take together. I'm sure that someday, if not even next summer, we will rent a house there for a week and spend lots of time at the beach. You and I spent a lot of time in the water this weekend. I even floated around for an hour one afternoon in the rain. It was still warm, and I was already wet, so why not, right? I was trying to embrace a saying I saw in one of the shops..."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain." Being in the ocean feels so good right now. It was hot and humid, so aside from the water relieving the weight of you in my belly, the water kept me nice and cool. Luigi, I really can't wait to take you to the beach next summer! I really hope you love it as much as I do!

Two unrelated comments (well, three in that I also wish you congratulations on reaching 31 weeks, and you look great!) One, isn't it crazy how warm the water is this year? And two, the fruit/vegetable thing was working for me for a while until the baby started getting bigger and I started thinking, hmm... do I really want to give birth to a squash?
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a wonderful weekend get a way. Gosh you are getting close!

ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments on my GD post, Jen. Helpful tip re: the fruit thing - I like the idea of eating fruit with plain Greek yogurt, will have to try that. Congrats on making 31 weeks - you look terrific, and you are getting so close!!
ReplyDeleteFloating in water sounds lovely! I should figure out how to do this myself on a hot day...if I can find somewhere less crowded!
ReplyDeleteCongats on getting all your nursery items, I can't wait to see the finished project!
