All the parents in the office are at a lunch time seminar to learn how to save for college. "from diapers to diplomas." How nice for them. (and mildly annoying for me).
My children, when (not if, positive thinking, right?) I am lucky enough to have them are going to be entirely screwed. They will probably have to pay their way through school and take us in when we retire! That's what happens when you have an extended adolescence for whatever the reason. Not enough time to save. Violetta, I hope you will forgive your patents and decide to join us anyway! We always make do, and we do have a lot of fun.
Oh well. I'm not going to think about it. I'm going out for a walk in the beautiful sunshine to grab some lunch.
(hmmm, one of these days I have to learn how to bring from home so I can save more, huh? It's just not nearly as satisfying!)

Here's hoping college educations become a right and the cost drops drastically...it took me 10 years to pay off my education, and it's taking my husband 20. Our kids will probably have the equivalent of my first mortgage for their loans...
ReplyDeleteSo here's to smart kids with full rides, right? OR at least a half ride!
I am hoping the costs drop and that my child (when they finally arrive) will get a scholorship bc right now, their tuition is being spent on trying to have them !!!
ReplyDeleteThe upside to them all going to that seminar is you don't have to listen to them complain about their kids. Am I right?
ReplyDeleteI don't for a second hold it against my parents for not being able to pay for my education. Your child may take pride and study harder/smarter as it will be something they are personally invested in as well as financially. I'm sure they will understand you spending your savings on them to get them here in the 1st place!
I have dreams that college will become nationally funded like healthcare. If not, I am sure my child will work just as hard and diligently as I did.
ReplyDeleteI have nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. You can stop by my blog to find out more about the award. :)
Paying your own way through college is "character building". That's the line that I'm going to use with my kids. (positive thinking is right!)
ReplyDeletep.s. Now following and you're going to the top of my favorite list on my blog. Love The Chronicles!
Haha! I think about this all the time. I SHOULD be saving for a college education for my child not throwing every little penney I can scrape together toward creating the child!
ReplyDeleteOur kids can be poor and happy together.
